First Post! Primera entrada!

¡WEPA my gente! moncheoPR is now up and running!

We're here to blog about Puerto Rico's culinary scene. From chinchorros to fine-dining, every eatery and food-related place and event will be covered.
Our mission is to give aplausos to those who are doing an excellent job, while handing out a few cojías de cuellos to those who have a few hiccups that need fixing.

With regards to restaurants, the main focus will be the two most important areas: comida & servicio. But we'll also keep an eye on location, accessibility, parking, ambiance, menu, variety, value, cleanliness, bathrooms, noise levels, and whatever else comes up that merits mentioning.

We want to chat about the entire culinary scene around the island. From market finds to our own personal moncheo moments.

Let's start with the first personal moncheo moment: the KATSU CURRY we just had for dinner, courtesy of our own personal group of Leprechauns Chefs. We visited the Asian Food Market on Ashford Avenue, bought some curry, rice, and panko among other things. Best find: Lychee in a can. Yeay! Got some beef, veggies, cabbage & chuletas at Pueblo and ended up with this:

'Japanese' Katsu curry, pork cutlet, white rice, cabbage, tonkatsu sauce. Sorry about the picture quality; phone cam sucks at night. Will work on that. Just know it was DELICIOUS!!

Point is, PR needs some serious food and restaurant writing and we're taking on the challenge. If there's any place you'd like to read about, email moncheoPR @ gmail.com or leave a comment. We'll scout the spot(s) you recommend and write back on the experience.

!Adios y buen provecho!
